Health Benefits of Water

Did you know that the human body is made up of mostly water?

Throughout the years, water intake recommendations have varied, but most people agree: drinking 8 glasses (64 ounces or 1.9 liters) of water a day improves health! Benefits include clearer skin, a curb in appetite, (sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger), and aiding the body in flushing out toxins.

Dehydration can be a serious problem, for both adults and children alike. Through normal daily activities, adults lose around four liters of fluid, which is usually replaced by the fluid we drink and the food we eat. But the amount of fluid required can be greatly increased by exercise, sweating, sickness, excessive heat or altitude. The most common cause of increased fluid loss is exercise and sweating. Doctors recommend drinking water every 15 minutes when playing outside in warmer weather.

But don't drink your water out of just any old container. Some plastic and aluminum bottles on the market today contain toxins that can leach into your water. And bottled water isn't much better! Have you ever bought a bottle of water, opened it, then put it aside? If you took a sip later, especially if it sat in a warm car, you may have noticed an odd taste to your water. This is likely because the plastic is breaking down and you are tasting the chemicals. Rest assured that our bottles do not have that effect.

WaterU® can provide a safe container for your water but only you can control the quality of the water you drink. We recommend having your home tap water tested for harmful carcinogens, prescription drugs, and other pollutants.
